Check out this list of vegan-friendly cities all over the world- one of them may just be your next vacation spot!

Europe

Berlin, Germany

Berlin is affectionately known as the "Vegan Capital of the West", and there's plenty to back that claim up. There are over 50 purely vegan eateries, around 80,000 vegan residents, vegan city tours, and a Vegan Summer Festival at the end of this month!

Edinburgh, United Kingdom

The capital of Scotland boasts over 40 vegan eateries, and, most of all, a few restaurants have a vegan substitute for haggis, one of the most meat laden Scottish dishes out there! Additionally, this city has a variety of cuisines on offer, from traditional Scottish fare to Thai food to nearly everything in between.

Warsaw, Poland

Similar to Austin, Warsaw is a very vegan-friendly city in a place known for its meat. There are over 30 vegan restaurants, vegan supermarkets, and in nearby Wroclaw, there's also a memorial for all the animals that have been slaughtered.

Brighton, United Kingdom

Brighton is just an hour away from London by train, and it is home to many delicious vegan restaurants. There is pizza, dessert, curry, tapas, and more!

London, United Kingdom

Last but not least, we have London. There is no shortage of vegan restaurants here, not to mention vegan options on the menu at so many popular restaurants.

North America

San Francisco, United States of America

San Francisco has long been known for its hippie vibe, and this extends to the vegan way of living. Peppered with vegan restaurants and cafes, it's a great vacation spot for anyone who wants to be #VEGGIEBUZZING all holiday long! Because of this vibrant movement in the city, the Bay Area is becoming more and more vegan as well. Be sure to check out our review of Lazy Bear, a restaurant in San Francisco with 2 Michelin stars, with a menu that can easily be made vegan.

New York City, United States of America

This one city has over 50 vegan restaurants, and has been recognised by PETA for being so accessible for herbivores. There's plenty for vegans to enjoy in the Big Apple as you are bound to find vegan options on the menu at most regular restaurants as well!

Los Angeles, United States of America

No place catches on to health trends like L.A. does, and veganism is no exception. As the home of over 30 vegan restaurants and the PETA headquarters, it's no wonder that L.A is so well-known among the vegan community.

Seattle, United States of America

Seattle has been recognised by PETA as being a great city for vegans, and the fact that there is an $11 all-you-can-eat vegan buffet supports that claim! Also, restaurants here are great for making almost unnoticeable meat-free versions of foods that we all grew up with.

Chicago, United States of America

Chicago is a great place in the U.S. midwest for all the vegans out there. It's got an abundance of vegan restaurants, and has been recognised by PETA for this.

Portland, United States of America

TIME Magazine, PETA, and Travel + Leisure have all recognised Portland as a great city for vegans, and for good reason. There is a 100% vegan strip mall, a vegan food festival, and of course, excellent restaurants.

Austin, United States of America

We know, we know- it seems like Austin would cater only to meat eaters, because it's the capital of Texas, one of the most barbecue-loving places in the world. However, prepare yourself for a surprise- PETA has repeatedly recognised Austin for being such a vegan-friendly city! With dozens of restaurants to choose from, vegans will be spoilt for choice.

Vancouver, Canada

Vegan brunch, bakeries, food trucks, shoe stores, dinner clubs... You name it and Vancouver probably has it! Another great part of this city is that animal sanctuaries and animal rights protests can be found.

Toronto, Canada

Home to the Vegan Food and Drink Festival, Toronto never disappoints. It sports dozens of vegan eateries, making it the perfect spot for a vegan foodie.

Asia & Australia

Chennai, India

About 50% of the Indian population is vegetarian, so it makes sense that a city in India would make this list. Furthermore, South Indian cuisine is much less dairy-based than its northern counterpart, so even though the vegan scene is just starting, it isn't too difficult to make your meals cruelty-free.  Just make sure to specify that you don't want ghee or butter added to anything!

Melbourne, Australia

Well-known for its vegan restaurants, Melbourne is a city that can't be missed. A quick search online reveals the multitude of vegan eateries available, especially in the hipster area of Fitzroy.

Taipei, Taiwan

Buddhism is the main religion in Taiwan, and this helps bolster the vegan culture in Taipei. This city is a definite must for any vegan looking for an Eastern-Asian adventure. Also, Taiwanese cuisine is very vegan-friendly, so you can immerse yourself in local food culture while sticking to your principles.

Chiang Mai, Thailand

Chaing Mai is the perfect spot, not only because Thai cuisine is easily made vegan, but also because there are vegan restaurants throughout the city. However, if no vegan options are available on the menu, you can ask for the protein to be replaced with tofu. As a result, this place is great for all those who run on plant power.
