Our #VEGGIEBUZZING Brunch at Mythos!
Our most recent event was a brunch for a select group of food and lifestyle bloggers and social media influencers. It was a super fun afternoon, with plenty of rose and a fantastic Greek vegetarian selection at Mythos Kouzina & Grill.
A few of the guests have come to be very dear friends in my relatively short journey through the blogosphere over the past year. As for the others, after a year of drooling over delicious food photos on many of the foodie accounts, it was about time I put a face behind the names! And let's just say there were lots of pretty faces!
So in just a short period of 2 ½ weeks, we put together a guest list, finalized the venue, menu, invites and props, and hand delivered our edible invites to all the guests. Mythos Dubai was kind enough to jump on board as the restaurant and once again Le Clos was on board with the wine. Since it was a daytime event, we served one of my favorite rose wines: Whispering Angel, Caves D’Esclans, Sacha Lichine, Cotes de Provence Rose 2014.
As expected, we were all snapping away, and to spice things up even further, in my toast speech, I promised to feature several of the photos from the event in this post, with credit to the account that posted it! Needless to say, concerns about eating cold food were low down on the list of priorities, but standing up on chairs to capture that perfect overhead angle was definitely up there! And lets not forget about the props!
All the food was super photogenic and absolutely delicious! We started with a delicious spread of starters: a trio of dips consisting of Tzatziki, Tyrokafteri (spicy feta cheese) and Traditional fava (pureed split peas), served along with homemade bread and olives. Alongside this we had the Tomato Kefta and the Spinach Cheese pie. As soon as these dishes greeted the table we were all at our feet and snapping away!
The most popular dish of the afternoon was The Grilled Halloumi - the high quality halloumi was the perfect texture and the homemade sweet oxymeli sauce just added a whole new dimension to this a simple halloumi dish. Lets just say my instagram feed was all about the Halloumi that afternoon!
The salads were all fantastic and authentic, the favourite being the Dakos salad from Crete island.
The last of the savoury dishes were the Gigandes (oven baked butterbeans) and the Gemista, both of which we loved!
Last but not least, the dessert! We started with a selection of sorbet while we were waiting for the Loukoumades (sweet dumplings with Greek honey & walnuts) to come out of the oven, and boy were they worth the wait!
