Our Favorite Vegan-Friendly Breakfasts
We’re always telling you where you can enjoy some of the best #veggiebuzzing lunches and dinners around town, but what about breakfast? It’s the most important meal of the day, after all! We decided to jumpstart our mornings by trying out some of the best spots for great vegetarian breakfasts. As a bonus, all of them have a vegan option! Here are our top 7 picks, in no particular order:
- Crumble Cafe
Crumble Café in Downtown Dubai has a very laidback vibe and has a good range of vegetarian dishes on its breakfast menu. The standout is the Smashed Avocado, served on thick toast with tomatoes, mozzarella and a delectable truffle vinaigrette. And there’s always room to indulge with some delicious waffles topped with cream cheese.
Vegan Option: Coconut Quinoa Porridge
- Pantry Cafe
With locations in Al Wasl Square and Business Bay, Pantry Café creates a relaxed homestyle atmosphere and has a fairly extensive breakfast selection. You can start off the day with a savory waffle, followed by something from their organic egg menu (thought you might find yourself stumped for choice) and finish up with a stack of pancakes.
Vegan Option: Super Cereal Bowl
- Fraiche
At Fraiche Café & Bistro in JLT, the floor-to-ceiling windows are perfect for greeting the sunrise over breakfast. For vegetarian options, there are more sweet than savory dishes, but there’s no room to complain when you’re looking at some delicious French Toast options, including berries, banana & salted caramel, and banana & chocolate.
Vegan Option: Quinoa and Buckwheat Porridge
- Comptoir 102
As a villa-turned-café, Comptoir 102 feels just like home! Relax on one of their sofas as you start the day off right with some healthy breakfast options. Choose from gluten-free buckwheat pancakes, organic eggs cooked to order or a labneh panini. There’s also a large variety of organic smoothies and juices if you’re looking for a lighter breakfast.
Vegan Option: There are a few vegan puddings and porridges to choose from. Chia Pudding is always a good choice!
- Common Grounds
The third café opened by Dubai-based duo Tom Arnel and Serg Lopez, Common Grounds is part of the Mall of the Emirates expansion. The idea behind it is to raise the bar for mall café food, and with breakfast options like Smashed Avocado on toast and a truly indulgent Banana Bread on offer, they’ve raised it pretty high already.
Vegan Option: Acai Bowl
- Jones the Grocer
With a theme that echoes the simplicity of its name, Jones the Grocer on Sheikh Zayed Road has some delicious breakfast staples including a variety of omelettes, pancakes and banana pecan French toast. For something a little out of the ordinary, try the Grilled Halloumi with Zucchini Fritters or Poached Eggs with Pesto and Avocado.
Vegan Option: Quinoa, Apple & Bulgur Wheat Porridge
- Pots, Pans & Boards
A laidback all-day dining restaurant from British chef Tom Aikens, Pots, Pans & Boards at The Beach JBR is a quirky space with mismatched furniture and utensils as an integral part of its décor. It’s also a great breakfast spot thanks to dishes like the Garlic Spinach Parmesan Frittata, pancakes with maple syrup and a fantastic selection of fresh baked goods.
Vegan Option: Oatmeal with Almond Milk
