Not much compares to a leisurely walk along the beach; fresh air, sunshine, the sound of birds chirping and children playing. Oh wait - except a really great vegetarian meal that is! At The Walk, JBR there's no shortage of entertainment from cinemas

  1. Catch 22

There is no catch 22 in this recommendation - this is indeed a fish restaurant on a vegetarian website's restaurant round-up! At Catch 22, their signature 'catch sticks' have not one but two veggie options (pictured below): the jumbo asparagus stick and the shiitake mushroom stick. They also have three veggie rolls that go above and beyond the unimaginative vegetarian sushi rolls you're used to. Goodbye cucumber maki and hello mac and cheese tempura.

  2. Eggspectation

Drop by Eggspectation on a Friday morning and expect to wait in line for a little while. This breakfast hot spot is famed for its namesake, cooking up eggs in every way they can be cooked from creamy eggs benedict to a healthy veggie omelette, all served with a side of perfectly crispy potato and fruit.

  3. Andreea's

An international take on Italian food, the menu at Andreaa's is a satisfying affair for any vegetarian diners. Its broad selection of vegetarian salads, risotto, pasta and pizza are guaranteed to satisfy and there's no shortage of vegetarian starters, side dishes and, of course, dessert to chose from either!

  4. Tike Taste of Istanbul

If you'e never had a taste of Istanbul before, your tastebuds are in for a treat. At Tike Taste of Istanbul, the cuisine lives up to all of the stereotypes of Turkish cuisine, from the hot and cold Turkish mezze to the BBQ eggplant and the super-sized cheese pide. And if you're stopping in for breakfast, make sure you opt for a Turkish breakfast spread including shakshuka (pictured below), and forget about eating again until the evening.

  5. Operation:Falafel

For what is essentially a fast-food restaurant, Operation:Falafel manages to serve up some of the best falafel in Dubai! From a falafel wrap, to a falafel platter or some stuffed falafel to accompany a salad, if you're in the mood for those delicious little golden nuggets then Operation:Falafel won't disappoint.

  6. The Counter

Build-your-own concept restaurants are inherently popular among the health-food community and among people with specific dietary requests. The Counter has brought the customised burger experience from its native California to our shores here in Dubai. The 100% vegan burger patty can be built however you like it. Our advice? Less is more.

  7. El Chico

Who doesn't love Mexican food? Not only is it one of the most popular cuisines (because it's so delicious!) it's also one of the easiest to make vegetarian, vegan or healthy. Omit the meat, cheese and sour cream from any dish and you've got heart-healthy beans, fibre-filled rice, superfood avocado and the fresh flavours of citrus and coriander left. El Chico is no exception!

  8. Busaba Eathai

We gave Thai eatery Busaba Eathai a pretty solid review! Its chefs manage to balance the flavours of Thai food while incorporating subtle influences from Indian and Malay cuisine that give it its own signature twist. There are no shortage of satisfying veggie dishes, from the crunchy and fresh Pad Thai Jay to the indulgent and comforting Butternut Pumpkin Curry, to chose from.

  9. House of Curry

Indian cuisine is a no brainer for vegetarian diners. And when it comes to Indian food in JBR, we have to go with House of Curry. This North Indian restaurant does not disappoint with its renditions of both popular menu items and original concoctions.
