La Petite Maison at DIFC which I like to call LPM, is one of my personal favourites in Dubai, so of course it is my first chosen restaurant review for Dubai. While most reviews of the restaurant focus on the fish, seafood and meat, which no doubt is fabulous, I know for a fact that the restaurant has several repeat vegetarian customers and for good reason!

I visit the restaurant quite often, so I love the fact that most of the staff are quick to recognize this and make it a point to greet me, always starting off my experience on a positive note. The restaurant is always bright and buzzing. Even though LPM has been open since 2010, it is still just as popular as it was in its first year despite several other new restaurant openings in the DIFC and downtown area in the last couple of years.
With a quick glance of the menu, a vegetarian customer feels immediately at ease as about a third of the dishes listed are vegetarian. For a newcomer, a quick chat with the waiter reveals that at least another handful can also be prepared as vegetarian.

Last week, I visited the restaurant with 2 other vegetarian guests, so since the restaurant has a sharing concept, this meant more variety for all of us! We ordered a few of my favourites: the Onion Tart (prepared without anchovies), which I love to eat along with the delicious Burrata with Tomatoes and Basil, the Salad of Green Lentils, the Marinated Beetroot, and the Grilled Aubergine with Mozzarella & Pistou (prepared without the prawns). For mains we ordered the Rigatoni with LPM's unique version of spicy Arrabbiata sauce and the creamy baked gratinated potatoes. We also decided to try one of the new additions to the menu, the Butternut squash Risotto, which we loved! As usual, all the food was up to its consistent high standard.

I have tried and love each and every one of LPM's desserts, however we decided to stick with just the Tarte Fine this time, a thin crust apple tart served with vanilla ice cream. Incidentally, it does not contain any egg, so a great choice for those vegetarians that prefer not to eat egg. My other favourites are their dessert version of French Toast, served with Spice Ice Cream and the Vanilla Crème Brulée.
So from my "grassy perspective", you can never go wrong with LPM!
